Elevate Health Providers
Dahra Perkins, MD, ABFM, ABIHM is board certified in both family medicine and integrative and holistic medicine, and trained in functional medicine. This gives her an extensive toolkit to work with and an ability to meet each patient’s unique needs and preferences. She sees a wide variety of people; from newborns to the elderly, women and men, from generally healthy people who want to maximize their potential to people with complex, chronic diseases. She works in partnership with her patients, educating and assisting them in achieving vibrant health. In her approach to each patient, she draws from a wide range of resources and believes in the value of rigorous scientific inquiry, state of the art diagnostic testing as well as the wisdom of ancient healing traditions and a person's own intuition. Her approach to healing is to assist each person in addressing the obstacles to their vitality rather than just treating isolated symptoms. While this often means lifestyle changes with gradual results over time, she does recognize the value and appropriateness at times of acute treatment of symptoms. She welcomes coordinating and collaborating care with other health practitioners that a patient is working with.
Because she believes that each person's healing journey is unique to them and that the basis of her value to her patients is the relationship she creates with them, she has structured her practice to enable her to spend adequate time to listen to her patients and to get to know them.
Dr. Perkins received her bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley, her medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, and completed her residency in family medicine at Oregon Health and Science University. She has had additional training in integrative and functional medicine, including nutrition and herbal medicine.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine, the Oregon Medical Association, the Institute of Functional Medicine, and the American College for the Advancement in Medicine.
Dr. Perkins was born in Santa Monica, CA. She has lived in Portland, OR since 2005 when she moved here with her then 14-year-old daughter Zoe. She enjoys bicycling (including commuting to work), dancing, outdoor adventures, traveling, scuba diving, cooking delicious things, making and fixing things (e.g. woodworking, knitting, and car repair), playing dress up with wigs and costumes, and spending time with family and friends.
Rebecca Robb, PsyD holds a masters degree and a doctorate from the School of Professional Psychology at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Prior to graduate school, Dr. Robb worked in the community mental health system in Seattle, WA serving individuals suffering from chronic and persistent mental illness. It was there that she began to question the benefits of traditional psychiatric pharmaceutical interventions. At age 39 she headed to graduate school, certain that she would find more effective interventions. Her dissertation explored the efficacy of dietary interventions for children with AD/HD.
Dr. Robb’s investigation of emerging treatment practices led her to an examination of neuro-nutrition and diet. They proved to be a valuable complement to the traditional psychotherapy practices that she already employed. Her study at the Neuro-Nutrient Training Institute founded by best-selling author, Julia Ross, MA, author of The Mood Cure, and The Diet Cure established a foundation for her current protocols. She continues to expand her understanding through study and collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues.
Based on evidence accumulated during 40 years of practice, Dr. Robb maintains that vibrant mental health is directly related to proper nourishment of the body, mind and spirit. She recognizes the reciprocal and dynamic influence of biological, psychological and social forces in illness and health.
Spyder Carneol, LMT, has been practicing bodywork since 2005. She offers her practices of Shiatsu and Visceral Manipulation to the patients of Elevate Health. Her practice philosophy is based on the power of therapeutic, nurturing touch. This touch brings relief to chronic stress, pain and stiffness, and can connect you to deeper parts of yourself, your body, mind and spirit, leaving you with a sense of lightness, wholeness and happiness.
Shiatsu is rooted in the Oriental Medical tradition, and stimulates the flow of Chi (life force energy) to support the body in healing itself. It is very therapeutic, relaxing and feels really good! Spyder studied Tao Shiatsu with Master Ryokyo Endo of Kyoto Japan for 10 years. Master Endo is a healer and Buddhist priest who teaches from a deeply heart-centered place. He passes to his students the understanding that people can heal when they are touched from this deep heart. He focuses on how to touch even more than where to touch and his teachings inspire her work every day. Spyder also studied a Shiatsu form at the Oregon School of Massage for 2 years. To complement the Eastern aspects of her practice, Spyder is engaged with ongoing study of Visceral Manipulation, bringing that subtle and anatomy-intensive form to clients who will benefit from it.
Spyder also teaches a mindfulness-based transformational process called Conscious Freedom. It is suited for people who feel stuck in old life patterns and are ready to make changes to create a more fulfilling and satisfying life. She has been developing and coaching people in the Conscious Freedom process since 2005. Please visit consciousfreedomcoaching.com. It is possible to combine the somatic aspects of the bodywork together with the mindfulness process in the same session to encourage a very deep transformational experience. She calls this practice “Tao Therapy.” Please contact her for more information.
Spyder, a native of Wisconsin, moved to Oregon in 2007. She is passionate about rock climbing, biking, snowboarding, backpacking, and quiet hikes. She loves being a mother, dancing, growing food and flowers, and cooking for friends with her fiancé, Ken. She is looking forward to meeting you, and supporting you in Elevating your Health!
